According to Pressburg Mint’s official Facebook page, Chronos was the very first product ever released by the mint back in 2015.
The concept was symbolic from the start:
A clock showing 11:55, symbolizing urgency to buy silver until prices rise on the obverse and an infinity symbol on the reverse, symbolizing the everlasting place precious metals have had in the world of finance, since ancient civilisations all the way until Wall Street
Looks like we were right in the end, as silver increased 300% in price since 2015.
But the early Chronos coins were not yet the design masterpieces the series later became. Collectors who remember the first release sometimes jokingly refer to it as “the ugly duckling” of Pressburg Mint — an ambitious but raw beginning. Be the judge yourself. They were actually not even coins, but rounds back then.
What makes the story unique is what happened next.
As Pressburg Mint grew, so did the artistic direction and technical sophistication of the Chronos series.
What was once a simple concept matured into a design-driven, technologically advanced, and highly collectible collection recognized worldwide.
The Mint revealed on Facebook that some yearly motifs required up to 150 design iterations before a final version was approved — a stunning number that shows just how much effort goes into each release. Nowadays, we go through 3 iterations at most. There’s a japanese saying it takes 8 years to master a skill, looks like we did it.

The entire series carries an elegant and symbolic theme:
“Panta Rhei – Everything Flows.”
This reflects not only the core idea of time but also the transformation of the series itself. As you can see on the 2016 release below, we have already come quite far from the 2015 first release. We also used to include “NOW” on the obverse and “AND FOREVER” on the reverse on the couple first releases.
Every year, the clock shows 11:55 — five minutes before midnight.
It’s a reminder of change, urgency, and the never-ending flow of time. Some releases still retain the infinity symbol on the other hand, others had to have it scrapped, for various reasons such as the need to have the entire reverse side (obverse officially) the effigy of the issuing country and nothing else
